Next meeting
July 28th, 2010 10:00AM to 12:30PM
Our next meeting will be held next Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 10:00 am until 12:30 PM at CCSU in New Britain.
Meeting Topics:
Industry Update: We’ll have an open discussion of news that people are hearing around the industry. This discussion will be lead by Matt O'Dell and Peter Leap from FileMaker. They will demo the newly released FileMaker Go.
The second part of our meeting will be a DevCon sneak peak with Don Levan of Vanguard Custom Software about User Interface design.
The Fundamentals of Exceptional Interface Design Successful user interfaces are those that are easy to learn and efficient to use. Meeting these goals requires that you understand the people who will use your software. This presentation will provide current information about interface and interaction design best practices, our shared human psychology and abilities, and the ways to leverage FileMaker tools to create exceptional user experiences.
Don Levan, Psy.D., president of Vanguard Custom Software, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, FileMaker 7, 8, 9, and 10 Certified Developer, and former photo journalist. He has been using FileMaker since the early 1990s and developing FileMaker applications professionally since 2002. He founded Vanguard Custom Software after creating a series of practice management systems for the mental health and medical clinics where he was treating as a psychologist. Vanguard's mission is to "create simple applications that solve complex problems." They incorporate software development best practices, interaction design, and cognitive psychology to create data-driven applications and websites that are efficient for business and easy for people.
Meetings are open to all. We look forward to seeing you there!
